Mounts (Under Construction)

There are basically three types of telescope mounts:

• the observers arms and hands;
• the altazimuth mount, and
• the equatorially aligned mount.

Even low power, hand-held field telescopes and binoculars become increasingly more difficult to support and hold steady during the course of an astronomical observing session. It is not surprising, therefore, that as the physical dimensions, weight and magnifying power of astronomical instruments increment, so too does the necessity for a stable mounting.
